Williamson under investigation

Telfair County Sheriff Jimmie Williamson is currently under investigation for possible “fraud and financial impropriety,” according to a press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation last Friday.

The release also states that the investigation began May 20 of this year and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is involved in the case as well as the GBI. The release goes on to say:

New industry in LC
Staff Report

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue recently announced that Telfair Forest Products plans to locate in Lumber City, creating 45 jobs and investing $5.75 million.

“Forestry has always been a key economic driver in Georgia, and I am pleased that yet another company will locate here and take advantage of our national reputation as a leader in this great industry,” said Gov. Perdue. “With the investment made by Telfair Forest Products, more opportunities will open for Georgians and an idle industrial area will see new life.”

Veterans Day remembrances

Telfair County residents took time out Tuesday morning to remember all veterans who have served our country over the years. Left: TCES students and faculty members recite the Pledge of Allegiance during the school’s annual program to commemorate the day. Telfair Regional Hospital sells for $300,00

The vacant Telfair Regional Hospital building has been sold.

According to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court received by The Telfair Enterprise, the bid of $330,000 from Convexco, Inc. of Lilburn was accepted. The cost includes $300,000 for the building and property and a $30,000 (10 percent) buyer’s premium for Hagen Auction Co., Inc., which handled the sealed bid auction.
